Greta’s Junkyard Turns 10: You’re Invited to a Celebration!
Hi, everyone! If you’ve been a reader of my blog since 2013, I have some exciting news. Meanwhile, if you’re new here, let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Gretchen Gatan Fragada and I’m a writer and editor based in Metro Manila. Greta’s Junkyard is a creative outlet where I often dump articles on my favorite things. And this year is a very special milestone because Greta’s Junkyard Turns 10!
My Blog’s Backstory
When I started GretasJunkyard.com in 2013 (which was originally on LiveJournal, Blogspot, then Tumblr), it was meant to be an online diary of sorts and a creative outlet where I could dump articles on my favorite topics such as beauty, travel, food, and more.
This was a little after I entered the workforce and began my career in digital marketing. And as I moved to the beauty industry in 2014 as a marketing manager and then the publication industry in 2016 as editor-in-chief, Greta’s Junkyard was always there — serving as my safe space to write about all the things I loved about life.
It opened up hundreds of opportunities for me. From collaborating with dream brands, doing commercials, traveling around and outside the country on all-expense-paid trips, and allowing me to pay for makeup school and grad school — just to name a few. It widened my network and led me to meet some of the most amazing people. Including the sweetest readers in the world. Readers whom I basically grew up with!
Greta’s Junkyard Anniversaries Through the Years
Every year after I launched Greta’s Junkyard, I’d put together intimate events to get to know everyone. From makeup workshops to pampering sessions and grand giveaways. In each of these events, I’d see my readers starting new jobs, tying the knot, and having babies as well.
Sadly, the pandemic put a halt to this tradition. But now that things have slowly normalized again, I think it’s about time to continue these meetings — especially since Greta’s Junkyard is turning 10 years old this September 2023!
Greta’s Junkyard Turns 10: A Celebration!
So if you want to join the celebration, I’ll be opening up a registration sheet on August 25 (Friday) at 9 AM that I’ll be sharing on my Instagram stories at @gretchengatan.
The first 15 readers to sign up will be invited to an afternoon of coffee and conversation. This is happening on September 9, 2023 (Saturday) from 2:30 PM to 4 PM at the cutest cafe in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
A lot of exciting things are in store — such as giveaways from Greta’s Junk Shop. Plus, merienda will be served.
