#WorkNow: How I Found My First Job with JobStreet Philippines
If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you probably have read a few articles of me sharing my career journey—from working as a Copywriter for a startup advertising agency (where I was eventually promoted to Brand Communications Manager), to an Account Manager for a digital marketing agency, to a Marketing Manager of four beauty brands, to an Editor-in-Chief of an online beauty magazine, and to a Managing Director of a content marketing agency. You can read more about it when you read the following articles: Why I Will Never Stop Feeling Thankful for the Blog, Maybe Dream Jobs to Exist, and When Your Dream Job Has an Expiration Date, What Next?
What I don’t think I’ve ever shared is how exactly I found my first job—which was through JobStreet Philippines! When I was in college, I was already so eager to start working—because I wanted to help my parents financially. I created an account, and found a couple of project-based writing jobs that allowed me to earn extra money! Right after graduating, I started looking for a job that would be a stepping stone for the career path I wanted for myself. And as much as I appreciated family and friends who tried to get me interviews for companies where they knew someone, I wanted to find something completely on my own. I logged onto JobStreet, applied for different jobs, and eventually ended up as a Copywriter for a startup advertising agency.
To this day, I make sure to keep my profile updated. Aside from it being hassle-free and easy to do, I genuinely enjoy updating my profile and looking back at my career journey. I also recently discovered that JobStreet added a new feature called #WorkNow to help employers be notified if an applicant is available for immediate hiring. This way, it’s a win-win for both! Employers are able to find good candidates through the platform—at the same time, those looking for job opportunities can start working again. You can find more information here. JobStreet added this feature, because they wanted to help fellow Filipinos who were displaced due to the current crisis.
If you know anyone heavily affected by the pandemic and is looking for work, let them know about JobStreet’s #WorkNow. They can easily register here: https://bit.ly/3dPOnGz.
