Unique Christmas Gift Ideas for Everyone
The beauty of this digital age is that e-commerce websites are popping up left and right, which makes shopping so much easier as compared to walking around the mall all day, which is fun but also incredibly tiring unless you have the stamina of my Tita and Ninang who can open and close malls any given day. I think once upon a time I could do that too but nowadays, I’m just not cut out for it anymore. Unlike before when I could thread through the entire area of Greenhills—from V-Mall to Shoppesville to the Tiangge, these days I’m good with just visiting malls like Power Plant—it’s small, it only has four floors, and I won’t ever get lost. Any other mall and I get restless and would rather just sit down and eat.
Which brings me to the topic: How do I plan to shop for unique Christmas gifts for my loved ones this year?
If you ask any of my family members or friends, I’m not a very demonstrative person. My mom calls me her “Little Miss Bato” because I rarely show affection towards people. I have my own way of showing it, which is usually through writing letters and giving small yet meaningful gifts. That’s why whenever I think of gift ideas for everyone I love, I’m very picky. It needs to be quality. It needs to be perfect. It needs to have meaning.
Given that, I decided to compile a list of wallet-friendly Unique Christmas Gift Ideas for Everyone—from moms, to dads, to siblings, to little cousins, to that special someone. Most of these can be purchased online and be delivered to your doorstep (for a minimal fee), while some can be ordered or be found in bazaars. What I like about these is that they’re more personalized (therefore more meaningful), and they’re local brands!
FOR DAD
1. I Am Not A Paper Cup (Chalkboard) (Php 795)
Perfect for coffee in the morning before he leaves for work. You can even write a simple note that can immediately put him in a good mood.
2. Tuxedo Tablet Cover (Php 1,250)
Suit up dad’s tablet with this fancy tablet cover.
3. Flask in a Book (Php 995)
I actually have this for myself, and I have no idea where to use it for. But this might be a good gift idea for dads who love their whiskey. Or scotch. Or brandy. What do you put inside it?
4. Wire Art and Trinkets by Kish Javier (Php 200++)
The amazing thing about these is that they’re uniquely handmade by local artist, Kish Javier. These would look really cool in dad’s office or on his work desk. Avail them by visiting Kartwheel Creations or any of the upcoming bazaars usually announced on their page.
FOR MOM
1. Clock Safe (Php 995)
Great for keeping important items like jewelry, keys, etc.
2. Hand Sanitizer for the OC (Php 320)
If your mom is as obsessive compulsive as mine and likes to keep EVERYTHING germ-free, this one’s a pretty funny gift.
3. Do Not Disturb Door Sign or Door Stopper (Php 475)
Moms need their beauty sleep, so why not give something to prevent them from getting disturbed? This works two ways—as a door sign or a door stopper.
4. Book Frame (Php 599.75)
Add a photo of the entire family and mom will surely love the personalized touch to this classy piece. It would look lovely on the bedside table, on top of the piano, or anywhere really.
FOR BROTHER
1. Bottle Top Coasters (Php 695)
This is a cute gift for brothers who always have friends coming over every Friday night to drink.
2. Bum Bag Drinks Cooler (Php 395)
To go with the coasters.
3. Unique iPhone 5 Phone Cases (Php 950)
I can’t decide which one is cuter. The Gameboy or the Retro Phone a.k.a. the Phone-That-Never-Breaks-No-Matter-How-Many-Times-You-Drop-It-And-Can-Even-Crack-People’s-Skulls.
4. Marvel Avengers USB’s (Php 800 for 16 GB)
It’s adorable. It’s useful. And it looks manly enough for a brother to use.
FOR SISTER
1. Star Map (Php 625 from Php 1,250 — Currently On Sale!)
For sisters who enjoy astronomy. Or it can be just a cute decoration to add in her room. Either way, it glows in the dark. Glows in the dark, people! How awesome would this look in the attic?!
2. Gift Sets from Glamourbox (Php 350 to Php 1,600)
They’ve got so much stuff that even non-kikay sisters can use.
3. Juice Beauty Lip Moisturizers (Php 875)
4. Bloom 7-Piece Brush Set (Php 1,650)
Because every girl needs a brush set in her kikay kit.
5. Shirts and Tote Bags by Dream A Little More (Php 280 to 350)
For the nerdy sisters. (I have four shirts from their Harry Potter collection.)
FOR THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE
1. A Visual Compendium of Notable Haircuts in Popular Music (Php 1,595)
Just because it looks cool.
2. Better Together Bathroom Rug (Php 850)
“Share the loving, share the water.”
3. Couple Shirts (Php 1,200)
A little cheesy, but also a little cute.
4. Puzzle Love Couple Necklace (Php 3,450)
It’s even cheesier but… You complete me.
FOR LITTLE SIBLINGS AND COUSINS
1. anything from PopJunkLove by Roma and Maan Agsalud
Really. Anything. They’ve got the cutest plushies, pillows, twisties, and more. Any character imaginable. I even requested to have a Draco Malfoy plushie made for Php 600. They accept custom orders! Or if your little sibling’s a fan of Minions, they’ve got them too. Catch them in the different bazaars happening this Christmas.
