The Benefits of Diamond Peel
DISCLAIMER: Before I list down all the things that Diamond Peel has done for me, please take note that this is a personal opinion backed up only by experience and by countless visits to my dermatologist. I would suggest that before you consider getting this treatment, that you consult with your dermatologist first.
Growing up, I was used to getting facials despite hating the painful pricking brought about by the treatment—just to get rid of the pimples and whiteheads, and refrain from leaving permanent scars on my face.
That is until last year, when I tried getting a Diamond Peel treatment once a month, I noticed how much my skin improved. And by improved, I mean really improved.
- My skin got clearer in general. No more pimples or acne breakouts. (Unless it’s that time of the month, where I sometimes get a pimple or two).
- It lightened the pimple scars I got from previous breakouts.
- It made me less oily.
- I feel like my pores were minimized.
- My face feels smoother and softer.
- Cheesy as it sounds, I feel more confident about myself.
The Diamond Peel treatment uses a special device with diamond tipped wands of varied sizes and coarseness for different skin types and depths. The wand tip is made of natural diamond chips, which polish the skin and suck out dead cells. It’s a mix of gentle abrasion with suction to remove the dead, outer layer of the skin. (Read more here.)
During the procedure, you’ll only feel a light tugging and sucking feeling. It’s absolutely painless. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes and when you’re done, your face is left a little red (this lasts for just a day) but it feels so much softer and smoother.
Since it works a lot like exfoliating, which I mentioned in a previous article is very important in anyone’s skin regimen, this frees the skin of dead cells that block our pores and prevent our skin products from being absorbed.
With Diamond Peel, not only does it improve the quality of my skin, it also allows the different skin products I use to be absorbed faster and better.
There are a lot of places you can get this treatment from, and it’s priced between Php800 to Php1,500. But one place I would definitely recommend is SKIN Dermatology & Laser Center by The Spa. Because I know they are an esteemed and trusted brand who really values their clients, I’m assured of the cleanliness and quality of their service.
The Benefits of Diamond Peel
One of their services is the Ultimate Diamond Facial, which is a Diamond Peel treatment with a facial. Again, although I hate the pain brought about by facials, The Spa minimizes this as much as possible by pampering you and making you feel like a queen.
I went to get the treatment last Sunday. As soon as I settled in my private room, the medical assistant let me change my top into a robe before allowing me to lie down on the cot. She made me feel more comfortable by placing two towels to act as blankets and making it as snug as possible. While washing my face, she gave me a facial massage.
After washing and massaging my face, she applied several creams and products, and finished it off with a mask—which was to be left on for 15 minutes. To kill the time, she gave me a shoulder massage. She used a coconut-scented lotion that seduced my senses. I swear, I seriously love anything coconut! Too bad the lotion was inside a generic bottle, so I had no idea what brand it was or where it came from. I can only dream about (and smell) it in my head.
After the mask, she massaged my head and scalp while steaming my face. Then we started with the Diamond Peel treatment.
As soon as the treatment was finished, she proceeded with the facial—which wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be. She ended everything with a back massage, and by serving me with their all-too-famous Ginger Brew.
SKIN Dermatology & Laser Center has branches in The Spa Fort and The Spa Shangri-la. I suggest booking a slot two to three days before your preferred date to ensure your reservation.

September 9, 2014 @ 3:43 pm
Hi, Shan! Oh that sucks to hear. The Spa’s charges are all-inclusive, so that’s a total of Php 2,800 for one session. 🙂
January 7, 2015 @ 9:51 am
hope it will really minimize my big pores! 🙁 my first time to try diamond peel. 🙂
January 7, 2015 @ 11:58 am
Hi, Mutzii! Oh, how was it? 🙂 I recommend getting it regularly once a month to really feel and see its effects! 🙂
January 18, 2015 @ 10:57 pm
How much po yung diamond peel? Nakakaalis po ba siya ng black/white heads, pimple marks? Saang branch po meron? Thanks in advance :))
January 18, 2015 @ 11:01 pm
Hi, Jhabd! The one in SKIN (at The Spa in Shangri-La Mall) is about Php 1,500 I think. I don’t remember anymore. But if you’re looking for a more affordable alternative, you can check out my feature on SCS: https://gretasjunkyard.com/where-to-get-a-diamond-peel-scs-skin-care-solutions/
Yes, it helps remove blackheads and whiteheads especially if you get the treatment regularly! 🙂
January 19, 2015 @ 12:05 am
How about pimples and pimple mark? It can only remove white and blackheads?
January 19, 2015 @ 4:14 pm
Yes, it helps remove pimple scars as well! 🙂
February 1, 2015 @ 5:43 pm
Is it suitable for any age? 🙂
February 1, 2015 @ 5:46 pm
Hi, Jhabd! 🙂 To be safe, I would recommend that you start it maybe at 18 years old.
February 12, 2015 @ 9:17 pm
Very nice article. You are certainly providing good advice. I like your blog.
February 13, 2015 @ 9:08 am
Thank you so much! 🙂
February 14, 2015 @ 12:22 am
applicable b ung diamond peel kht nagbreast feed? or will it still help n mwala ung butas s muka? thnx
February 14, 2015 @ 4:05 pm
Hi, Joanna! I’m not sure lang. Best to consult with your doctor first. Over time and if you regularly do it, I think it might help. 🙂
February 17, 2015 @ 5:23 pm
Hi Ms. Gretchen,
I’d like to ask. is it not bad for the skin to always do the peeling, say monthly? D po kaya the outer layer of the skin would become so thin and it will be more sensitive sa araw, dirt. Im always fascinated to try peelings but that is one of my fear. Please enlighten me.
thanks
February 17, 2015 @ 5:38 pm
Hi, Didith! I consulted with my dermatologist first and I see her often, and she says it’s totally fine. 🙂
February 17, 2015 @ 5:38 pm
The frequency might just depend on how sensitive your skin is. I suggest consulting with a dermatologist first. 🙂
February 17, 2015 @ 6:40 pm
thanks Ms. Gretchen 😀 have a good day!
February 18, 2015 @ 9:52 am
You too, Didith! 🙂
March 28, 2015 @ 5:39 pm
Did diamond peel remove a deep pimple scars? reply me with my email.
March 31, 2015 @ 9:54 am
Sorry for the late reply, Jeremy! Super swamped with work. I don’t think it removes deep pimple scars, so I recommend you get a Revlite treatment instead: https://gretasjunkyard.com/the-benefits-of-revlite-laser-by-skin-house/
April 20, 2015 @ 8:23 am
what if mam 3 concecutive months ako nag diamond peel then i stop na ako, mag kaka redness or side effect po ba? o kailangan pag simulan na kailangan tuloy tuloy na? i hope you will answer my question thanks ^_^
April 20, 2015 @ 9:24 am
Hi, Emir! No naman. No redness or side effects if you stop. But if you stop it kasi, you might not get the results you want or expect. 🙂
April 20, 2015 @ 7:18 pm
ahh ok po mam 1st time ko plang nyan mag treatment then problem ko d ko lam skin type ko base on my experience mag lagay lang ako ng cream sa mukha magka pimple ako, pwede po ba ako mag diamond peel khit d ko alam skin type ko? 🙁
April 20, 2015 @ 10:10 pm
Oh, I think it doesn’t matter naman what your skin type is. Diamond peel is basically like exfoliating, to get rid of the dead skin cells that are clogging your pores. When you clear up the dead skin cells, your skin absorbs the skincare products you apply much better—kaya it helps clear up the skin.
It’s usually recommended to get the procedure once a month. Too much of it might dry up or irritate your skin. 🙂
April 20, 2015 @ 10:36 pm
ok mam please read this article if you had a time mam https://karminaaguilar.wordpress.com/tag/bad-effects-of-diamond-peel/ i dont know if this is true, thats why doubt to do this . im worried it if have a chance will happen to me
April 20, 2015 @ 11:16 pm
Hi, Emir! That’s actually my first time to read a negative review about the diamond peel. The women in my family get it frequently, and they’ve never encountered bad reactions either. Maybe it just so happened that she really had a bad breakout right after the peel, and it wasn’t the peel that caused it but something else? I dunno. It’s hard to assume. But like I always say, what works for me may not always work on others and what works on others may not always work for me. Sometimes, you really have to try and experiment to know which products and procedures work best on your skin. It also helps to consult with a dermatologist before trying anything on your skin. 🙂
April 20, 2015 @ 10:44 pm
i nadvice sakin dahil 1st time in every 2 weeks daw ako mag pa diamond peel, facial and gold mask. pag katpos po ba ng 2sessions in 1month ok lang po ba ba once a month nlang?
April 20, 2015 @ 11:18 pm
My first time to get a diamond peel, I waited a month before I got my next one. And it was always like that. It was my dermatologist who recommended it. 🙂 I think after your first two sessions, it’s okay to maintain it at just once a month. Medyo mahal rin kasi yata if twice a month magpa-diamond peel. I wouldn’t spend that much. 🙂
April 22, 2015 @ 6:53 pm
oo nga po mam mahal sya hmmm pwede rin po ba gawin yung diamond peel, facial and gold mask in one session lang ? d po masira balat ko doon?
April 22, 2015 @ 7:15 pm
Hi, Emir! It will depend on the situation of your skin. Kasi when I got a facial before, I had a couple of pimples and the assistant didn’t want to perform the diamond peel because it might aggravate the pimples. (She had to prick and inject kasi.) So I had to wait one week before I got a diamond peel. 🙂 But if your skin is fine and you think it won’t need any pricking/injecting, safe to get a diamond peel the same day. I’ve experienced getting a diamond peel, facial, and mask all in one day from The Spa once because my skin that time wasn’t so bad. So it really depends on your skin’s situation when you get the facial.
April 22, 2015 @ 9:23 pm
i have no pimples mam i want to fade my pimple marks on my cheek 🙂 thanks ms gretchen
April 23, 2015 @ 9:48 am
Oh, then it’s fine! 🙂 You’re welcome!
May 18, 2015 @ 4:36 pm
hi there! ist possible to removed wrinkles once i had undergo diamond peel?
May 18, 2015 @ 5:09 pm
Hi, Sharona! Unfortunately, diamond peel treatments don’t remove wrinkles. It’s more of an advanced exfoliating session that clears the skin of dead skin cells. 🙂
July 15, 2015 @ 2:27 pm
Hi,
Ask ko lang, since hindi ko pa nata-try yung Diamond Peel, is it okay ba kahit hindi na ako mag-Consult sa Dermatologist? And how much yung Diamond Peel? As well kung once a month lang talaga siya? Thank you! 🙂
July 15, 2015 @ 2:46 pm
Hi, Nica! If your skin isn’t sensitive, it should be fine. 🙂 Diamond Peel in SCS Solutions is Php 500. Like anything else, too much of something is bad so if you want to get a diamond peel frequently, get one every 2 weeks or once a month.
August 3, 2015 @ 7:18 am
Hi, may I know who’s your dermatologist? Thanks 🙂
August 3, 2015 @ 9:36 am
Dra. Beatrice Canga-Pineda. 🙂
September 5, 2015 @ 11:07 am
Where is her clinic located?
September 5, 2015 @ 7:41 pm
SCS is in Bonifacio Global City. 🙂
August 10, 2015 @ 10:19 am
Can it remove wrinkles?
August 10, 2015 @ 11:08 am
Hi, Tessa! Unfortunately, it can’t. If you want to remove wrinkles, check out Revlite: https://gretasjunkyard.com/the-benefits-of-revlite-laser-by-skin-house/ 🙂
August 31, 2016 @ 3:23 am

August 31, 2016 @ 8:22 am
Dra. Beatriz Pineda. Not sure about the consultation fee, but she has a clinic in Parc Chateau in Ortigas.
September 10, 2015 @ 10:39 am
great post! I also wrote a bit about chemical peels myself but your first-hand review is enlightening about the whole process… 🙂 Check it out here:

Hi po. Ask ko lang kung ang diamond
Peel Ba ay nakakapag lighten ng mukha?
September 12, 2015 @ 10:23 am
Yes, it can! 🙂
September 11, 2015 @ 10:38 pm
Safe ba gumamit ng toner even naka diamond peel ako?
September 12, 2015 @ 10:24 am
Yes, it’s safe but make sure to apply after 6-8 hours to rest your skin. 🙂
September 14, 2015 @ 4:20 pm
Hello 🙂 Is it safe for a 16-year old teenager?
September 14, 2015 @ 11:07 pm
I think it is naman. But to be super sure, best to still ask a dermatologist. 🙂
September 16, 2015 @ 4:38 pm
Hi po. Nkapag pa puti rin po ang diamond peel at nkakapagpakinis dn ito ng
September 16, 2015 @ 10:08 pm
Yes, it helps lighten and clear up the skin! 🙂
September 16, 2015 @ 4:38 pm
Nkapag pakinis dn po b ito ng mukha?
October 2, 2015 @ 9:52 am
Hello po Ms. Gretchen! Your blog is really helpful. 🙂 Thank you so much! Tanong ko lang po, magkano magpaconsult sa dermatologist niyo sa SCS Solutions? Thank you in advance. Have a great day! 🙂
October 2, 2015 @ 10:15 am
Thanks, KC! 🙂 I’m actually not sure how much she charges for consultation, but we usually go to her Ortigas branch (BCP Dermatology Clinic) in Parc Chateu. She normally waives consultation fees since we’re long-time patients. But I think safe to assume Php 500 per session?
October 2, 2015 @ 10:36 pm
Ohh. Okay. Thank you! Dun po ba siya lagi sa Ortigas branch? If so, are there any other dermatologists sa SCS Solutions na pwede iconsult? Thank you! 🙂
October 5, 2015 @ 6:16 pm
Yeah, she’s only in SCS on Saturdays lang I think. But there are other dermatologists in SCS who you can consult with. 🙂
October 5, 2015 @ 1:54 pm
Hi Miss Gretchen, I really like your blog and how you actively reply to all you readers, question po, I am working kasi, i can’t start yung treatment kasi baka magbalat yung face ko and must avoid sunlight. I am worrying, baka ma-conscious pagpasok sa office.
So, magbabalat po ba sya? Thanks!
October 5, 2015 @ 6:15 pm
Thanks, Diane! 🙂 No, diamond peel doesn’t make your face look peeled or anything. It’s super normal lang. No downtime, so you can go to office without feeling conscious.
October 22, 2015 @ 7:29 pm
May i ask what is much better have facial first or diamond peel only -to lighten pigmentation? And do you recommend soaps to remain in face before rinse? Tnx in advance
October 22, 2015 @ 10:17 pm
Hi! With me, I get my facial done first and then diamond peel. But this only depends on the severity. If I came from a really bad break out, my derma always recommends that I rest my face for two weeks before getting a diamond peel. But if it’s just the usual blackheads/whiteheads, it’s okay to get a diamond peel right after. 🙂 I would recommend a soap based on your skin type. But gentle cleansers like Cetaphil or Physiogel work great on any skin type and are really mild. I’ve never read or heard bad reviews about them.
October 22, 2015 @ 7:34 pm
After diamond peel is it okay to put concealer in acne dark marks or pigmentation?
October 22, 2015 @ 10:18 pm
I’m not so sure, but to be safe, better to rest your skin for the first 12 to 24 hours. 🙂
October 23, 2015 @ 8:23 pm
Thank you mam gretchen.. I have pigmentation or dark marks thats never lightens, whats the best cream or serum for it to lighten..?
October 27, 2015 @ 12:17 am
For pigmentation and dark marks, my derma prescribes a bleaching cream but I think you’ll need to see a derma first so you know what kind of bleaching cream to use.
February 16, 2016 @ 5:42 pm
Hi miss gretchen, ask ko lng, is it ok kung mauna ang diamond peel and then facial the same day kasi ganun ginawa saken sa lets face it, pero before kasi lagi lang diamond peel ngaun lang ako nag try ng may facial kasi may pimples ako. Thank you po sa reply.
February 17, 2016 @ 9:22 am
Hi, Diane! It depends on the skin care center, but I think that’s okay. 🙂 I’ve experienced getting a diamond peel before a facial as well.
October 26, 2015 @ 5:14 pm
Hi Ms. Gretchen, does this procedure improve dark circles around the eyes?
October 27, 2015 @ 12:17 am
Hi, Nicki! Unfortunately, it doesn’t. It really just exfoliates and smoothens the skin.
November 6, 2015 @ 4:31 pm
Hi po. Is it ok if i use an exfoliating toner like maxi-peel if magpa diamond peel ? Im planning to to start a session po kasi. Thanks
November 9, 2015 @ 6:27 pm
Hi, April! I suggest to rest your skin from any other exfoliant before getting a diamond peel.
November 20, 2015 @ 7:41 pm

November 24, 2015 @ 7:59 am
ah.!
.ok po.!
December 21, 2015 @ 3:29 pm
hello, is it ok for 16 years old? i do really have large pores can it minimize? is it safe? i really want to try it ☺
December 24, 2015 @ 3:04 pm
Hi, JR! I think it’s okay naman, but I don’t think diamond peel can minimize your pores. 🙂 It thoroughly exfoliates the skin lang talaga, leaving it smoother and allowing the skin to absorb skincare products better.
January 6, 2016 @ 7:55 pm
Pde po ba mg wash ng face after diamond peel?
January 7, 2016 @ 9:43 am
Hi, Wisp! I normally rest my face for 3-4 hours before washing it. 🙂
January 11, 2016 @ 9:44 pm

tnx
January 17, 2016 @ 12:35 am
I tried my first facial treatment…yung diamond peel with whitening mask sa dermcare and im still wishing for a good result…nakakaalis po ba ng butas butas s mukha ang diamond peel…or hindi….
May mairerecommend po ba kayo na magandqng toner
January 19, 2016 @ 9:58 am
Hi, Dianne! Unfortunately, it can’t remove those. It will just exfoliate your skin, allow it to absorb products better, and make it smoother.
For toner, if you have oily skin, I highly recommend Avene Cleanance Lotion Toner. 🙂
January 18, 2016 @ 11:21 pm
After ba ng treatment pde ba kong bumalik sa mga dating ginagamit kong beauty products or merun pa silang sinusuggest
January 19, 2016 @ 10:10 am
Hi, Lea! Yeah, you can go back to your normal routine but be sure to rest your skin after the treatment for at least 6-8 hours. 🙂
January 19, 2016 @ 7:20 pm
Ah ok ang prob ko lang naman sa face ko yung pimple marks ko gusto ko lang syang ma clear up natatakot ako gumamit ng mga Ibang products baka hindi ako mahiyang
Thanks for info Gretchen
February 12, 2016 @ 7:26 am
hi Gretch! just wondering, is diamond peel similar to microdermabrasion? I am just confused which treatment to take since I had my warts removal session just last week, any piece of advise?
thanks,
josie
February 13, 2016 @ 10:36 pm
I think it’s similar, but not so sure lang what exactly the differences are. Best to ask a derma pa rin, to be sure. 🙂
March 28, 2016 @ 11:30 am
Hi. At what age would you recommend to have Diamond Peel? Should a 27 y/o go?
March 28, 2016 @ 6:10 pm
Hi, Ching! I started going when I was 25. I’m 27 now, and I still try to get it once a month. 🙂
May 8, 2016 @ 7:32 am
May 8, 2016 @ 10:37 pm
Hello! Diamond peel only exfoliates, but it doesn’t necessarily remove pimples. It just helps your skin absorb products better. 🙂 To prevent acne, better to take a holistic approach and improve your skincare routine + get a facial or a diamond treatment regularly.
May 17, 2016 @ 2:11 am
Can 16 years old can also try this facial treatment?
May 17, 2016 @ 9:17 am
Yes, I think 16 is okay but maybe it’s best to ask a derma first. 🙂
May 17, 2016 @ 7:09 pm
Thank you ms. Gretchen 🙂 there’s have a side effect?
May 24, 2016 @ 10:41 pm
No naman. 🙂 Your skin might be just a little bit more sensitive than usual, but that shouldn’t last for more than 8-12 hours.
June 16, 2016 @ 3:14 pm
Hi Ms. Gretchen how much po yung diamond peel sa SKIN Dermatology & Laser Center?
Hoping for your immediate response . Thanks.
June 19, 2016 @ 10:58 pm
I’m not so familiar lang with their rates, but in SCS it’s Php 500. 🙂
July 29, 2016 @ 4:23 pm
Hi mam gretch. Til now nag da diamond peel ka pa rin ba every month?? Wala ba side effects kayong nakikita like naninipis or nag hyperpigmentation kau? Hope u reply
July 31, 2016 @ 1:50 pm
No naman! 🙂 No side effects at all.
August 28, 2016 @ 11:32 pm
Hello. I read your blog and it helps me to understand how diamond peel works. Anyway, How about Skin 101? Have you tried to consult their clinic? I want to check up in dematologist but I don’t know where. Any advise? I’m also live in Taguig. Thank youuuu.
August 29, 2016 @ 11:34 am
I haven’t tried Skin 101 yet, though I plan to check out their clinic soon! Will try to write about it when I do. 🙂 If you’re from Taguig, you can check out SCS along 31st cor. 2nd Avenue in BGC! 🙂
December 25, 2016 @ 12:26 pm
pwede daw po ba toh sa 14 yrs?
December 27, 2016 @ 9:13 pm
I suggest to consult with a derma first. 🙂
January 1, 2017 @ 12:57 pm
Good day po. Ask ko lang po kung pwede ang Diamond peel sa age na 16 years old?
January 1, 2017 @ 1:44 pm
I guess so, but maybe it’s best to check in with a derma first. 🙂
January 1, 2017 @ 4:05 pm
Sino po kayang dermatologist ang pwedeng mapagtanungan? Thankyou po
January 4, 2017 @ 12:08 pm
You can try going to my derma. Her name is Dra. Beatriz Pineda, and her clinic is at Parc Chateau in Ortigas.
January 1, 2017 @ 5:19 pm
Alin po kaya ang mas okay at safe sa 16 years old? Yung dermatology session po o yung diamond peel? Thankyou po 🙂
January 1, 2017 @ 5:21 pm
Alin po kaya ang mas okay at safe sa 16 years old? Yung dermatology session po o yung diamond peel? Thankyou po 🙂
January 4, 2017 @ 12:07 pm
Better to consult with a dermatologist first before getting anything done. 🙂
February 8, 2017 @ 11:25 am
I just want to ask if an 18 year old teen like me is allowed to undergo facial treatment? Btw im turning 19 next month. I am not condfident to go out without putting creams on my face to cover up my acnes and ddark spots. I want to have beautiful and flawless face so that i didnt need.make up. Can facial help? Please respond
February 11, 2017 @ 12:12 am
Hi! Yes, it’s perfectly fine to undergo facial treatments at your age. 🙂 I suggest to let your skin breathe first and stop applying makeup. Instead, focus on skincare and try to see what products work best for you. It’s best to consult with a dermatologist regarding this. Facials will definitely help for sure. 🙂
February 26, 2017 @ 11:46 am
This is the review na para sakin helpful talaga..Sa first time na mag diamond peel nag lighten po bah yung scars?d naman deep scars talaga..thank you po..
September 14, 2017 @ 1:17 pm

September 17, 2017 @ 2:31 pm
It depends on the clinic. 🙂
October 6, 2017 @ 3:52 pm
Hello and hi Maam. Thank you so much Maam

Hi, Nico! I suggest to do Revlite. It helped a lot in making my pores smaller. 🙂

Hi ms Gretchen
Gusto ko rin po i try ang diamond peel. Pero for almost 2 mnths, im applying maxipeel zero (the one that has no peeling and redness effects.)
The last time i used it was just yesterday tapos ngaun lng hindi ako gumamit kasi im planning to have diamond peel tomorrow. Is it safe kaya for the face?hindi kaya mgkakaroon ng chemical reactions?

Hi, Tala! I think it’s best to ask your dermatologist first. 🙂

I used to get it done with pimples, but I know sometimes, the derma recommends to wait until the pimples disappear first before doing the procedure. Maybe it’s best to ask your derma muna. 🙂

Hi, Megan! For me, it usually lasts maybe 30 minutes? Depending on how clogged my pores are. But the redness doesn’t last too long. 🙂
