Surviving a Hot Day with Facial Mists
A few days ago, I wrote an article on the Glamourblog featuring the three different types of facial mists by Pixi by Petra, which includes their Glow Mist, Makeup Fixing Mist, and Hydrating Milky Mist.
I have to admit—facial mists are my way of surviving summer. When it gets too hot, I make a beeline for the refrigerator where I keep my Avene Thermal Spring Water, Ysabel’s Daughter Grapefruit Face and Body Mist, and Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Nourishing Facial Water with Clary Sage.
My favorite of the three is Avene’s Thermal Spring Water—I even have a mini version of it which I keep in my bag. I use it for just about anything—cleansing my face before I apply makeup, using it to treat an itch or a burn, refreshing and hydrating my skin when it’s dull, or giving myself a cool burst to energize me and keep me awake all day. Of the three, I think this is the best one for super sensitive skin because it’s extra gentle and it contains soothing properties. This is especially true when my skin is red or itchy—I just spray it over the area and the redness or itchiness instantly disappears.
The Grapefruit Face and Body Mist from Ysabel’s Daughter has a slightly strong scent, but I like using this after playing a game of Ultimate. It refreshes me, and it’s lightweight and non-sticky. It’s also made with 100% natural ingredients, so need to worry about it containing chemicals that could be harmful to your skin type or the environment.
Burt’s Bees’ Nourishing Facial Water is technically not a mist because it comes in a toner-like package, but the benefits are pretty similar to the two mists I mentioned in the sense that it’s infused with nutrients that restore lost hydration. It’s made with 99% natural ingredients, and is clinically shown to improve texture. All you need to do is soak a cotton pad and gently smooth the product onto your face for softer and healthier-looking skin.
When I’m at the office, I also use Pixi by Petra’s mists but my favorite is the Hydrating Milky Mist simply because I feel like it quenches my skin and keeps it hydrated. The Glow Mist, I like to use to prep my skin before I apply makeup while the Makeup Fixing Mist, I use after I apply makeup to set it and allow it to last longer.
What about you? What’s your mist of choice, and why?
