The cute, creative and homey pastel wonderland that is Stacy’s, with its more popular branch in Greenstreet (Capitol Hills), is now open in Bonifacio Global City—just beside Distillery and a stone’s throw away from Burgos Circle and Mind Museum.
Stacy’s was a concept by partners Aby Natividad-Nachura (food writer and stylist) and Angelique Abesamis-Castro (prop stylist for Working Mom and more), both of whom dedicated it to Angelique’s grandmother, Anastacia (where “Stacy’s” was derived), who lived until 102 years old. Stacy’s was named after her because of the positive way she lived life, similar to the vibrant feeling you get as soon as you enter the restaurant.
The first time I tried Stacy’s was during my cousin’s birthday dinner last October 2012, and so our entire clan was able to pig out on a variety of dishes—all in generous servings AND priced reasonably. Two dishes back then stood out for me—the Homebaked Chicken Parmesan (baked chicken fillet in Italian herbs and chunky tomato sauce layered with loads of parmesan and mozzarella cheese), and the Texas Barbecue Ribs (slow-cooked, tender, country-style ribs glazed with barbecue sauce).
Which is no surprise that when I discovered the newly-opened Stacy’s branch in BGC, with its equally pretty colors and eye-catching 1950’s decor (not to mention a five-minute walk away from my office!) I immediately had to dine in. It just so happened that the evening I did, the traffic was bloody red along both EDSA and C5. So what better way to wait it out than to have a fill of delicious comfort food?
As usual, Stacy’s signature popcorn-pretzels-and-marshmallows-in-a-tiny-bucket welcomed us. This was immediately followed by the main dishes, and then a mouth-watering order of lava cake for dessert (another dish I couldn’t forget the last time). Unlike other lava cakes, Stacy’s serves theirs in an ice cream bowl to make it easier to eat.
For a finale, Stacy’s waitresses served a couple of butter ball candies to add to the already sweet treats.
With Stacy’s now open in BGC, lunch breaks and post-office dinner dates just got more exciting!
