Philips Glam Night at Blo Blow Dry Bar Serendra
It was another exciting event in my favorite hairstyling salon, Blo Blow Dry Bar Serendra. Together with Philips, they threw a simple cocktail party, invited a few bloggers, and boasted some of the best and most high-tech hair tools used on their clients.

Aside from the cocktails, a short program took place with hairstylist Ara Fernando demonstrating how to use the different tools and giving us tips on how to care for our hair. Thanks to the demo, I now know three really easy ways to fix my hair for everyday wear and for more formal events.

After the demo, a quick contest was held where we were grouped into three and had to style a groupmate’s hair using the Philips hair tools of Blo Serendra. The winning group won three new blow dryers, while everyone else received tokens and consolation prizes.
If you guys are wondering what tips I learned on how to care for my hair better, here are a few that I learned from Ara:
1. Hot then Cold
After drying your hair with hot air, set it with cold air to close the hair follicles and achieve shinier tresses. It’s very similar to when you steam your face before a facial cleaning session, then applying cold mudpack after.
2. Use Heat Protectant
If your hair is colored or was treated, always use a heat protectant before blow drying and using your flat iron or curler. Never use these products if your hair is still damp or wet, because hair is weakest when it is at this stage. Hair must be completely dry before using any other heating tools.
3. Higher Temperature for Virgin Hair
If you have virgin hair (meaning it’s never been treated or colored), it’s best to set your heating tools at a higher temperature so that the hair will really follow the curls, volume, or overall look that you want.
When it comes to the best technology and caring for our hair, Philips has definitely got it in the bag. I witnessed this firsthand during the demo, and when my groupmates styled my hair during the contest. Their products are reliable, very easy to use, and they’re good investments that you’ll surely use for years.
