It’s almost 2015, and while most of us have been busy making our list of New Year’s Resolutions, I’ve been busy adjusting to my new job—yup, you read right!
After being in digital marketing for more than a year, I’ve decided to jump into something totally different (and yet still somewhat related). It was a decision that I had to think about for a long time, but in the end after weighing the pros and cons, I realized that this decision brings me much closer to the career track I want for myself—despite having to leave a cool boss and a bunch of really lovely colleagues.
To be honest, it was an unexpected offer and I didn’t think I was going to get one this early on in my career. It was a really great opportunity for me to take, and if I let it pass, I wasn’t sure I was going to get another one.
So what am I doing now exactly? I’m now the marketing manager of Pixi Beauty, Eye of Horus Cosmetics, Ofra Cosmetics, and POP Beauty—four brands exclusively distributed by Glamourbox, which started out as a premiere beauty subscription service and online boutique in 2012. Glamourbox was actually my first job (although I worked freelance for them and juggled it with my then day job as a copywriter and marketing assistant)—I regularly contributed to their blog and sometimes wrote copies and content for their website.

Just a year after Glamourbox was born, they entered their brands in known clothing/lifestyle stores and beauty outlets like Common Thread, Snoe, Pure Beauty, Plana Forma, and Blo Blow Dry Bar. Today, Glamourbox has opened two stores—one in Fairview Terraces and one in Landmark, Trinoma.
Though we’re still a small company, our brands are slowly gaining attention—because of their quality and competitive prices. A personal favorite of mine is Pixi, which is all about flawless, fuss-free makeup and focuses on bringing out the natural beauty in modern-day women.
It’s been such an exciting experience, and quite the roller coaster ride. I’ve learned so much in less than a month—and this is coming from a girl who graduated Creative Writing and had no background in marketing at all. Everything I know now and everything I’m doing was just something I learned from experience, and from the Cupcake (who graduated from School of Management in Ateneo and works as a marketing operations manager).
It’s a crazy, crazy turn out of events—but one thing I can confidently say is that I’m not afraid to chase my dreams. I’m so fortunate to be where I am now—not a lot of people are given these kinds of opportunities. What I need to do is to continue to work hard, absorb all the knowledge and experience that I can, and grow further. Being here is such an incredible blessing.
It may take up most of my time and I’m expecting my blog articles to lessen, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to take! Blogging is really just an outlet for me, since I’m first and foremost a writer (and I’m lucky to be getting all the perks that come along with it!). It doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop writing though! Expect to still read a lot of food and beauty reviews, tips and tutorials, and adventures with the Cupcake—especially now that he got me a new toy to take better photos with. (He got himself one, too. Hihi.)
I’m really looking forward to what 2015 has in store for me and for Glamourbox. I have a feeling it’s going to be an amazing and fulfilling year.
