My 29th Birthday Weekend at Sunrise Buckets and EDSA Shangri-La Hotel

I recently celebrated my 29th birthday last March 9, and though it was a Friday, it was quite an eventful weekend! To kick things off, I had an intimate birthday party at Sunrise Buckets, Burgos Circle after work with family, close friends, and colleagues from Calyxta. I’ve always been a huge fan of Sunrise Buckets and their food—especially their Jack Daniel’s Wings and Cheesy Beef Poutine Fries. In fact, two years ago, I threw a 27th birthday party with them in their Greenhills branch!

This year, I didn’t want to think of any other place, so I decided to celebrate my birthday with them again. It ended up to be a really good decision because for only Php 12,000 (consumable of food and drinks), they gave me their entire second floor for four hours! It was such a fun evening of eating wings, drinking beer and cocktails, and spending time with both my family and friends.

The next day, the Cupcake and I checked in at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel to attend our friends’ wedding on Sunday. Since he was a groom’s man and I was the bride’s makeup artist, it was convenient for both of us to already be at the hotel prior to the wedding day. We pampered ourselves with merienda and drinks by the pool, eating a buffet dinner at Heat, and getting a massage at the Chi Spa.

Sunday, the day of our friends’ wedding, was the most hectic day of the weekend—but also really fun! I did the bride’s makeup from 8am to 9:30am, before I ran back to my room to do my own hair and makeup, then I had to check out, and ran to the groom’s room to powder him up. By 11:30am, I ended up in the hotel lobby’s restaurant having brunch while waiting for the pre-wedding shoot to end.

The wedding later that day was very beautiful, and I was so honored to have been a part of it. It definitely made my birthday weekend more memorable.

March hasn’t ended yet and the Cupcake and I have another wedding to attend this weekend, so we’ll be checking in at Nobu Hotel this time!
