Maybelline and Me: The Brand That Started It All
My story with Maybelline goes way back when I was in high school. I mentioned it during the Maybelline Dream Academy Workshop in partnership with Greta’s Junkyard last July 2015—but for those who weren’t there, allow me to tell the story again (with more details)! Haha.
It was this purchase that started my love for makeup in general—I would hoard eye shadows and lipsticks, and I always loved that Maybelline was a brand I could afford with my high school and eventually my college allowance.
So anyway, that’s my story with Maybelline, and being a part of this #MaybellineNYFW campaign is a dream come true. It’s not always easy to chase your dreams—case in point, this blog! It took me years before finally convincing myself to start it, and in 2013, I decided to push all doubts and insecurities outside the window and just start writing for myself—because it was what made me happy. Fast-forward to 2015, and this blog has opened up so many exciting opportunities for me.
When you want something so bad, never stop until you get it. Work twice as harder as everyone else, and surround yourself with people who will keep encouraging you to go for it. My family and the Cupcake have always been my rock, and they unconditionally support me in everything that I do. I really hope and pray that Maybelline gives me a chance to live the Maybelline New York Dream next year, because apart from being a huge admirer of Georgina Wilson, I know in my heart that the experience will allow me to grow even more as a person and learn new things. That’s the beauty of it all.
