Maternity Shoot Ideas at Home: My Cozy and Relaxed Maternity Shoot
If you follow me on Instagram @gretchengatan, then you’ve probably seen me share a few photos from my cozy and relaxed maternity shoot at home. Originally, I wasn’t planning to do a maternity shoot anymore since I think I documented my pregnancy journey quite well. However, when a lovely photographer reached out for a collaboration, the magazine editor in me couldn’t help but jump at the opportunity to look for pegs and create a deck. So if you’re looking for maternity shoot ideas at home, I hope you can find inspiration from mine!
My Deck and Pegs for my Maternity Shoot at Home
Here’s the simple deck I came up with. I did my own hair and makeup, of course! Meanwhile, for the styling, I wore whatever was available in my closet for the first and second layouts. For the third layout, I bought a pink Frill Cotton Dress from Mango on ZALORA. My husband, on the other hand, wore whatever was available in his closet for all three layouts.
Maternity Shoot at Home Layouts
We just held the shoot in our home. Two layouts were done in our bedroom while one layout was done in the garden area. As someone who has done numerous cover girl shoots in the past, I can guarantee that any area can be made into a set design. You just need good lighting and an equally good photographer. Luckily, we had both! If your lighting is limited, try scheduling the shoot in the morning to take advantage of natural light.
First Layout
Flowers make me so happy, and I wanted one of the layouts to incorporate my favorite flowers—carnations and roses. I ordered bouquets online through one of the Dangwa Facebook groups and had them delivered during the morning of the shoot. The roses bloomed just in time but I realized that carnations take longer to bloom. Oh well!
Second Layout
For the second layout, we were able to include our fur babies—Booboo and Bellatrix. I also took inspiration from our engagement shoot and wedding prep shoot with Nicolai Melicor where we wore pajamas!
Third Layout
Last but not least is the third layout, where we were a bit more dressed up. I love how the color of my dress really popped amidst the backgrounds!
Maternity Shoot at Home with ZM Photography
Our photographer that day was Zyna Molines of ZM Photography. She does family, portrait, and lifestyle photography within Metro Manila. You can check out her Instagram and Facebook for her portfolio. Additionally, you can email her at hellozmphoto@gmail.com for bookings and inquiries. Though she’s not a big-time photographer just yet, I loved working with her. She was quick, professional, and she took good shots despite the short amount of time. She had her own lighting equipment as well. We finished in about two hours or less. I highly recommend her! In fact, I’d love to work with her again in the future. Perhaps I can book her for a family shoot once our baby girl arrives.
