Make a Wish Foundation x Takbo Runfest: Walk for Wishes
A friend messaged me today and asked if I could help her spread the word regarding this really good cause. Hope you guys can take the time to read! It’s about Make a Wish Foundation, an organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, and an affiliate of Make-A-Wish Foundation International, the world’s largest and most respected wish-granting organization. Make A Wish was established in the Philippines last December 1999.
I’ve heard so much about them, especially because WWE partners with them a lot. Lots of kids who look up to WWE wrestlers wish to meet them in person, and Make a Wish Foundation always makes it happen. Another story I’d like to share that’s closer to home—I have a friend who developed cancer when we were younger, and Make a Wish Foundation granted her wish of meeting the cast of Harry Potter in London! It’s a great way to inspire kids, give them strength, and make them not lose hope.
This year’s Runfest by Takbo.ph is happening on July 12, and Make a Wish Foundation will be its beneficiary. With a donation of Php 500, donors will be given the chance to walk 500 meters with the wish kids. Here’s the exciting part: all proceeds will be used to grant their wishes!
Right now, they still need at least 150 donors and I’m calling out to all of you readers who would like to help. Let’s bring joy, hope, and strength to the children by granting their wishes!
Below are FAQ’s should you want to know more about the event.
1. How much is the registration fee?
A donation of P500 is needed from each volunteer. The entire amount will go to help fund the operations of Make-A-Wish Philippines as they grant wishes of kids with life-threatening medical conditions.
2. What distance will we cover?
You will walk a very short distance of 500 meters with the Make a Wish Foundation team and their wish kids. If you want to run longer distances, Takbo.ph offers 5k, 10k, and 21k legs.
3. How do I register?

4. What will I get in exchange for my registration fee?
Prepare to receive a life-changing experience of walking with kids to spread strength, hope, and joy! Volunteers will also receive a commemorative race-bib and a token from Make-A-Wish Philippines. They will also be raffling off amazing prizes at the end of the event!
5. Is there an age limit?
No, there is no age limit to joining the Walk for Wishes event.
6. Can our company join this event?
Yes, definitely! Employees are most welcome to walk with the kids and can even wear company shirts for photo opportunities.
7. How do I grant a wish on that day?
Groups, families, and companies with a minimum of 20 participants will be assigned a wish kid. Each group will walk with the wish kid and his/her parents, and the group’s representative will be given a chance to go up on stage to award the kid’s wish immediately after the event!
What’s more, the group is then free to spend time or have brunch with the wish kid and his/her family (with the supervision of a Make-A-Wish trained volunteer) after the awarding ceremonies.
