Lacey Days
If there’s one trend that has remained prevalent throughout the fall and up until spring, it’s definitely the lace trend. What started out originally as fashion for wedding gowns has turned into much, much more. In fact, lace seems to just pop out of everywhere these days — not only in tops, skirts or dresses but in shoes and handbags as well! And why wouldn’t it? The style has such a unique and soft feminine touch that looks charming on just about anyone. It can even be dark and edgy, as seen in Dave Ocampo’s holiday 2011 collection.
When I spotted this outfit on campus, I couldn’t help but notice how simple yet how chic the lace top looked when paired with the black skirt. How a seemingly effortless combination can turn into such a fashion-forward guise! The color of the bag complemented the ensemble more, and I love how the belt, aviators, and the little gold bracelet makes for a finishing touch. It’s such an enchanting, girly outfit I couldn’t take my eyes off.
While the lace trend is still happening, I think it would be great to experiment with the wide, various styles it provides. The look I’m loving is pairing up a cream, lace top with denim cut-offs. Or why not be bold and jazz it up with a floral, maxi skirt? You can even go all Hamptons by wearing the top with pastel colors. Whatever it is you can think of, be creative! Don’t let the fear of not being able to pull off the look, or even laziness from putting together a cute ensemble, get in the way of your lacey days!
