Happy 4th Birthday, Greta’s Junkyard!
Four years ago today, I created a Tumblr account because KChan said I should. Greta’s Junkyard Giveaway
This was my very first post:
In all honestly, creating a Tumblr account was one of the best decisions ever because not only was I able to find an outlet for my emo tendencies and strange shenanigans, I was also able to make the coolest friends from all over the world.
Without really thinking, I named this wonderful account: Greta’s Junkyard. (Because it was to be a literal dump site of my favorite things—as the subtitle of this blog states.)
A lot of people ask me where the name “Greta” originates. Some actually mistake it for my real name. But really, “Greta” was just a playful name my cousin, Greggy, came up with. He would always call me that in front of my friends, and eventually the nick name stuck.
This was Greggy and I the first time we went to New York City. He’s really one of my closest cousins.
And this was us four or five years ago during a family reunion.
People really call me Gretchen. I prefer to be called Gretchen.
But when my friends want to tease me, they use Greta instead.
Greta’s Junyard became the default name when it came to all my so-called productions—mainly my chapbook, which was published early this year.
And of course, this blog.
So because the (Beta) Junkyard turned four years old today, I’m giving away gift certificates to four random people so that they can go pamper themselves at I Do Nails in Eastwood Mall. (You can read my article about them here.)
All you have to do is like the Junkyard’s Facebook page and post your answer to this question: If you could be a character in Harry Potter, who would you be? (No right or wrong answer. I’m just genuinely curious. Hehe.)
Four random names will be picked out from those who will post. Winners will be announced next Thursday, October 31.
Best of luck to everyone, and Happy Birthday again to my lovely Tumblr, Greta’s Junkyard!

Hermione Jean Granger. I spent my whole childhood admiring to be her. She might be a know-it-all, most of the time. But she’s really intelligent and brave!
Also because she can do her charms and potions right. 🙂
