Fashion Wednesdays at Sage Bar in Makati Shangri-La Hotel
I was invited to attend the first Fashion Wednesdays event of the year in Sage Bar, Makati Shangri-La Hotel last January 7. It was my first time to attend and as such, had no idea what to expect. The Cupcake and I arrived early, so we decided to listen to the live band first and order some food and drinks. To our delight, the drinks were on a Half and Half promo (select beer, cocktails, wine, and spirits are discounted at 50% off from 5pm to 9pm until the end of the month). We shared a plate of Pork and Vegetable Spring Roll served with Soya Chili Sauce (Php 220) and Chicken Wings Adobo with Sweet Garlic Chips (Php 220), which the waiter told us were their best sellers.

I like that the spring rolls were spiced just right, and it balanced the sweetness of the Chicken Wings Adobo. For their drinks, I tried their Gin Basil Smash, as recommended by a friend, and though the Cupcake thinks you can barely taste the heat of the gin, I found it quite strong—but that’s considering I’m a light drinker.

The fashion show started a couple of hours later, with designs by Arnold Galang. The evening celebrated his 25 years of fashion excellence, showcasing a collection of fun, flirty, and colorful pieces—my favorite was this matching top and peplum skirt that I thought would be perfect for a smart-casual event.

After the show, we decided to go around and take photos. Makati Shangri-La has a very special place in my heart, because this was where I had my prom when I was in third year high school in Poveda! I wanted to relive the memories again, this time with my boyfriend.
