Dinner Date with the Cupcake at Stockton Place in Makati
I first heard about Stockton Place from KChan a few months ago, who’s taste in food is impeccable so naturally, I wanted to visit the place right away. I was even more ecstatic when I found out that Chef Celine Delos Angeles of Stockton Place, head chef and partner (who’s known to both KChan and the Cupcake as “the very pretty chef”), honed and mastered her craft in one of my favorite restaurants ever, The Goose Station.
So last December 26, before the Cupcake left to celebrate New Year in Hong Kong with his family, we had our Christmas dinner date at Stockton Place in Makati. He had to call and make a reservation just to assure us of seats, since the place gets packed easily and can only accommodate about 40 guests at a time. While waiting, we went to see the light show in Ayala Triangle.
We ordered the Butternut Squash Soup (Php 250), Homemade Linguine (Php 350), and the famous Seared Scallops (Php 750). For dessert, we shared the Cheesecake (Php 300).
The first sip of my soup immediately brought me back to the first time I visited Goose Station and got goosebumps from the delicious entrees. The soup was excellent! I loved the texture and the consistency, and I especially enjoyed the hint of butter that roused my palate.
The Homemade Linguine, tossed in white clam sauce, was very filling and could even be shared by two if you have an appetite like mine. The taste was light, so it doesn’t make you feel sated right away.
The Seared Scallops was so delicious that five pieces just wasn’t enough. It was complemented well by the caramelized tomato in the center.
The Cheesecake was very unconventional-looking. I was expecting the usual triangular cheesecake, but it came in a small, round cake surrounded by cold glazed berries, lemon foam, and fresh berries. It was really good, especially when mixed with the sweet graham crumble.
I loved everything about Stockton Place, and I can’t wait for the Cupcake to take me back for another dinner date (Ahem, Ahem!). Hihi. Next time, I really want to try the Sweet Potato Tortellini, Rib Eye Steak, and the rest of the desserts.
