Dinner Date with KChan: Trio Family Style Italian Bistro in BGC
KChan is currently a med student in Ateneo in case I haven’t mentioned it yet. Because of the heavy work load and her mission to someday save the world (which I believe she will), we rarely get to go out on our food trips unlike before when we were in high school and college.
KChan and I back in 2012
A little background on my friendship with KChan—we were classmates all four years of high school in Poveda. We were (still are) Harry Potter fanatics. We shipped Draco and Hermione, and bonded over our favorite fanfics. We had the same taste in music, and were practically “emo buddies” up until college. We were drinking buddies, too. We had similar girl crushes, liked watching the same shows, and read the same books. In fact, throughout our friendship, we were always trading books. We’re each other’s emergency numbers in case the other one had to borrow a dress or a gown to wear to an upcoming debut or wedding. She’s the proofreader of my secret novels. When we were single and were labeled as “Girls with No Boyfriends Since Birth,” we would watch movies together and go on dinner dates—which is why I call her my Wifey. There was even a time our relationship status on Facebook was “married” and I think people were starting to suspect that we were lesbian lovers—a theory we both had when we were both 21 and still had no boyfriends.
Sometimes, I’d like to think she’s the Daria Morgendorffer to my Jane Lane.
Of course, she was also the one who introduced me to Jessica Darling (where I pulled the infamous “My thoughts create my world” quote) and Tumblr—which eventually led to me starting my own blog.
And now, here I am writing a review about Trio in Fort Strip, BGC where we had our post-Christmas dinner date last week. As food lovers, we always make it a point to try out new places. Trio in BGC has been around for a while now, but it was our first time to visit so we ordered Chicken Parmigiana (Php 295), and Prawns and Scallops Risotto (Php 395).

They also have an ongoing promo of Buy 1, Take 2 Cocktails for some of their drinks. I wanted to order the Coconut Lychee Daiquiri originally but it wasn’t available, so I ended up with the Coconut Lychee Martini which I shared with KChan. The alcohol content was so strong that we only finished one glass and just ate the two other lychees.
For the dishes, I found the risotto to be okay. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special either. I liked the texture of the risotto itself, but I’d say the overall flavor was a 3 out of 5. The Chicken Parmigiana, on the other hand, looked a lot like Cordon Bleu topped with tomato sauce. It wasn’t bad either, and so I’m also going to give it a 3 out of 5.
Trio Family Style Italian Bistro in BGC caters to everyone: couples, families, friends, and colleagues. You can even have the place reserved for corporate or special events. The restaurant can probably accommodate 50 to 60 people. It’s a big place located on the second floor of the Fort Strip Mall. Their dessert list is something I want to try next.
