Detox Diaries: My Juice Cleanse with Detoxify Bar
I recently attended the launch of Detoxify Bar in Shangri-La Mall, where the Cupcake and I got a taste of both their fresh-pressed juices and healthy dishes. It was all so delicious, and though I already tried (and had a difficult time) doing a 3-day juice cleanse before with a different brand, it made me want to try again.
Hence, I scheduled a 3-Day Skin and Mind Clarity Cleanse for the Holy Week. I thought the break would be perfect, because my family and I had no plans to go anywhere. This meant I could rest, relax, and recharge from the stress of work—and what better way to complement it than with a cleanse!
I initially scheduled my cleanse for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. However, due to a miscommunication with my order, the first batch of juices were delivered on Thursday night so I ended up starting on Friday. It wasn’t really a big issue, because it was still within the break—the extra day also gave me more time to prepare myself mentally.
Before I start my Detox Diaries, what exactly is a Skin and Mind Clarity Cleanse? According to Detoxify Bar, it “addresses mind and stress-related toxins. The micronutrients and anti-oxidants help to improve mental clarity and focus which is why this is a favorite among those whose toxin overload has lead to difficulty in concentration. This package also helps rejuvenate the dermis and aids in the skin’s natural detoxification process to prevent minor irritations and breakouts leaving the complexion glowing.”
Here’s the breakdown of juices per day:
- Minty Berry Detox – apple + blueberry + raspberry + blackberry + mint leaf + lemon
- Green Vegan Detox – apple + cucumber + romaine lettuce + broccoli + celery + moringa + lemon
- Lemon Detox – lemon + maple syrup + cayenne pepper
- Orange Vegan Detox – carrot + pear + spinach + romaine lettuce + celery + cucumber + lemon
- Gold Detox – raw ginger ale + chia seeds
- Red Vegan Detox – apple + carrot + lemon + beet + cucumber
For obvious reasons, I chose this because work has been quite hectic lately, and because I wanted to achieve a glowing complexion!
Day 1, Friday:
I woke up at about 8am, because I was informed that my juices for Saturday would be delivered on Friday morning instead of Friday evening (due to the holiday, I assume). I immediately started with a bottle of Green Vegan Detox, which I mentioned in my previous article was really good despite the celery (I’m not a big fan of celery). After consuming the bottle, I drank a glass of water and went back to sleep.
I drank my second bottle at about 10:30am—this time, I drank the Minty Berry Detox, which I finished right away because of how yummy it tasted! I washed it down again with water. Compared to my last juice cleanse, I thought it was much easier to do this time. I think it’s because it was scheduled perfectly, and my family was incredibly supportive. They kept asking me questions like how the juices were and how I was feeling, which gave me motivation to really conquer and finish my cleanse.
At 1pm, I pinched my nose and downed the Lemon Detox—not that I don’t like the taste, but I have a very sensitive tongue and can’t take the spiciness of cayenne pepper. It burns the throat a bit, but it’s really tolerable, and you just have to wash it down with water to get rid of the slight sting. Right after my third bottle, I made myself a cup of tea with the EveryDay Detox Tea that comes with the whole program.
The period in between lunch and merienda was a bit difficult, because I felt myself suddenly getting hungry. To distract myself, I kept playing games on my phone, until eventually I was sleepy enough to take a nap. At 5:30pm, I woke up and had my fourth bottle—another Green Vegan Detox.
My last bottle for the day was consumed at 8pm, and it was a Minty Berry Detox. I drank the Smooth Move Tea right before going to bed at 10:30pm. Expect the effects of the tea to wake you up in the middle of the night and make you visit the bathroom, but unlike Biofit Tea (if you guys are familiar with this), the Smooth Move Tea doesn’t make your tummy hurt as much.
Day 2, Saturday:
I woke up a little later and drank my first bottle, an Orange Vegan Detox, for breakfast at 9:30am. Like the Minty Berry Detox, this was very easy for me to drink as well because it tasted so much like carrot juice, which I really like. My next bottle, a Minty Berry Detox, was consumed at 11:30am, which I paired with the EveryDay Detox Tea. The Cupcake was supposed to pick me up at 3pm because we were headed to Greenhills, so I drank another Orange Vegan Detox at 2:30pm.
While I was in Greenhills, my mom called to inform me my juices for Sunday were delivered. She easily stored all five bottles in our refrigerator.
When we got back from Greenhills at around 6:00pm, I downed the Gold Detox really fast because I cannot stand the taste of ginger. Out of all the juices I’ve had, this was the hardest for me to drink. But I easily washed it off with a few glasses of water.
Left: kacha bag used to deliver juices, Right: travel-sized cooler bag
At 7:30pm, my family and I left for Century City Mall to watch Fast and Furious 7. The travel-sized cooler bag that’s part of the package came in handy, because I was able to bring my last bottle for the day, a Minty Berry Detox. I drank this while my family had dinner in Hole in A Wall.
After the movie, we got home at about 12:30am where I drank my Smooth Move Tea.
I thought the second day would be easier seeing as I’m so near the finish line, but I think I struggled a bit especially during dinner time. I just kept pushing myself that I only had one day left.
Day 3, Sunday:
On the third and last day of my cleanse, I woke up really late—11:30am. So I drank my first bottle of the day, a Minty Berry Detox. The day seemed to go by really fast. After doing my usual weekend chore of giving Booboo a bath, I drank my second bottle, the Red Vegan Detox, at 3pm then had my EveryDay Detox Tea. I kept myself really busy by writing, then at 5:30pm just before heading to mass, I drank my third bottle, a Minty Berry Detox.
Right after mass while my family was having dinner, I had a Green Vegan Detox. I was slightly struggling, because the smell of the food was making my stomach grumble. But I kept my focus and had enough motivation to finish my cleanse. I drank my last bottle, a Minty Berry Detox at 9pm, then my Smooth Move Tea at 10:30pm right before going to bed.
So there you have it! My complete Detox Diary featuring three challenging days of testing my body physically and mentally. What are the pros and cons in doing a juice cleanse with Detoxify Bar?
PROS
- air sealed in glass bottles for guaranteed freshness
- tastes yummy and juices are really easy to drink
- comes with a travel-sized cooler bag
- delivered to your house daily
- friendly SMS reminders regarding delivery time
CONS
- slight miscommunication with my order (was supposed to start Thursday but I ended up starting on Friday)
- wanted to pay my bill in full but I had to pay daily (Php 1,450 for Friday because it includes delivery charge, Php 1,300 for Saturday, and Php 1,300 for Sunday)
- expensive but quality and taste are good
- not sure if it’s a con but I tried to give back the clean, empty bottles I consumed on Friday and Saturday so they could recycle them but the rider told me they don’t accept empty bottles
What do I hope to achieve after this cleanse? Healthier eating habits, of course! I’ve already instructed my mom to prepare oatmeal, tuna, and fruits for my baon this week. I’m also going to try and stay away from McDonald’s, which I noticed the Cupcake and I have been visiting frequently for breakfast before going to work.
If your goal is to achieve a healthier lifestyle as well, I think Detoxify Bar can really help you there. For more details on their different Detox Packages, visit their website here.

Hi, Kaye! It didn’t really help me lose weight–it was really more to cleanse my body and introduce it to a healthier lifestyle. 🙂
