da.u.de Tea Lounge in BGC: Tea for Me, Please!
I think my tea obsession started around the time Mulan came out—particularly because of that scene with the Matchmaker, when Mulan had to learn to pour the tea so that she could please her future in-laws. She had to demonstrate a sense of dignity. (And refinement!) Ever since, I could never stop reenacting it.

And it was what got me to start liking tea—whether it was a simple cup of house tea from a Chinese or Japanese restaurant, or a cup of English Breakfast I usually prepare for myself at home, or the Lemon Chamomile I enjoy so much from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
However, a few months ago, the Cupcake discovered a tea lounge in Bonifacio Global City that was the first of its kind. This was a place that served legit tea, and by that I mean by a Couture Tea Blender™ and the country’s first Certified Tea Master™—Renee Sebastian, who used to sell in the Upper West Side Sunday Market in New York City, before she came home to open her dream tea lounge.
Upon getting Chef Ramon Antonio as her chef consultant for the launch, da.u.de Tea Lounge in BGC was born.
The place gives off nothing but a serene ambiance, with cute chairs and comfortable couches for guests to really just lounge in. Shelves are decorated with cans of tea leaves and fancy racks of pastries. Waiters and waitresses take down orders in such a techy way, it makes you wonder where they’re keeping the usual notepad and pen.
And of course, the menu offers a variety of teas—whether green, fruit, herbal, black, oolong, white, chai, rooibos, mate, or pu-erh.
The first time I visited, I was able to try Coconut Green, Coffee Almond, and Skala. Coffee Almond was under the Black Tea category, so it was slightly stronger than the other two, with a roast-y hint of coffee. Skala tasted a lot like cranberry, and of course, since I’m obsessed with anything coconut, Coconut Green instantly became my favorite.
And it was what I kept ordering every time I came back.

Aside from one-of-a-kind teas, da.u.de Tea Lounge in BGC also offers delicious food—one of which is their very fulfilling Wild Mushrooms and Mascarpone pasta (Php 370).
Last night, because the traffic got really intense, the Cupcake and I decided to wait it out at the only relaxing place we could think of. And again, we shared our staple order of Wild Mushrooms and Mascarpone. I got my usual Coconut Green, while he tried the Xaouen (under the White Tea category), which tasted very refreshing.

This is how the tea press works at da.u.de Tea Lounge. You can purchase one for around Php 700.
The sizes vary, but I always get the Small for Php 100.
I read that da.u.de also has a secret menu, so I definitely want to try that next time.
