Carmen Claire Cosmetics Covert Operations Concealer Palette
The Carmen Claire Story is an interesting story about a girl who loved and blogged about makeup in college, and eventually realized that she could actually turn her passion into a business. No longer just a beauty enthusiast, Carmen went on to create her own makeup line—focusing on real and unique beauty in the simplest of ways. Unlike most makeup brands that have too many colors and shades for options, Carmen Claire Cosmetics makes things so much more convenient for girls like me—who love makeup but don’t splurge too much on them. It’s quality makeup made in the U.S. that’s talc and paraben-free, is not tested on animals (a big PLUS for a dog lover like me), and doesn’t scream loud tag prices.
Last Monday, I felt like such a giddy little girl because in the morning after I received a special delivery from Summit Media (StyLIZED by Liz Uy, which you can read about here), I also got a package from BYS Cosmetics and a bag of goodies from Carmen Claire Cosmetics. Naturally, when you give a little girl all these toys, she’ll only be too eager to play with them when she gets home.

And play with them, I did. I was able to test the Carmen Claire Cosmetics Covert Operations Concealer Palette, which comes in two shades: Minimize and Neutralize (Php575 each). I’ve been eyeing these two product from Carmen’s website for so long. I love how it has five shades in just one wheel—so it’s perfect to use any time of the year—whether it’s off-season from disc and I’m back to my normal white skin, or during the summer when I’m golden brown from getting a tan.

You can use it to hide blemishes, scars, pimples, uneven skin tone, and even eye bags.

For this entry, I used the Minimize palette. Since Neutralize is a little bit more complex to use and blend, I’ll study that and hopefully make a separate post in the future. But for now, I used and blended together two shades of the Minimize to cover up the little blemishes on my forehead. The product smells similar to baby powder. I like the packaging as well. Simple and straightforward.
Make sure that you wash your hands first before using your ring finger to gently dab on the product. You can dab some under your eyes, on pimple marks and scars, and on reddish spots or areas. For my look, I used a slim concealer brush. When using your fingers, be very gentle. Try not to stretch or sag the skin. Also, in choosing what shades suit you best, one tip that Carmen gave herself was to use the more yellow shade under the eyes. Remember that you’re not trying to erase the dark circles. You’re just trying to minimize the appearance.
To give a step by step guide on how I achieved my look, these were the other products I used:
Benefit Porefessional, BYS 5-Piece Horizontal Eye Shadows in Natural Glam, K-Palette Long Lasting 2Way Eyebrow and Real Lasting Eyeliner (which is a staple in my bag), Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, Maybelline the Rocket Mascara, and Shu Uemura Lipstick in 720
I first spritzed on the Oil Zero Solution (Php 750)—which also came from Carmen Claire Cosmetics. Though the scent is unique, it was able to really wipe off the oil and clean my skin. I then applied a pea-size amount of primer before proceeding to use the Carmen Claire Cosmetics Covert Operations Concealer Palette. After this, I used a powder brush and my compact powder to set everything.

As usual, I filled in my brows. I also used one of the goodies given to me—the BYS 5-Piece Horizontal Eye Shadow in Natural Glam. I really loved the shades of this one. It’s more matte than glittery, and I love how it defines the eyes. After curling my lashes, applying mascara and blush, and putting on lipstick, here’s the final outcome:
