Booboo’s 3rd Birthday Party: A Doggie Cake from Whole Pet Kitchen
I remember clearly the day I brought home Booboo. It was January 17, 2011. He was two months old, and was the chubbiest among a litter of five in this small pet shop in Tiendesitas. Pacquiao Pet Shop, to be exact. Of the five puppies that came rushing towards the cage door to catch my attention, Booboo was the only one who stayed in one corner—quiet and shy, but with hopeful eyes looking straight at me.
I knew then that he was the one.
Since that day, life has never been the same.
The day I brought home Booboo. It was my dad who named him because he thought he looked like Yogi’s sidekick.
We do everything together. Everyday whenever my parents dropped me off at school, he would be there. And whenever I got fetched, he’d be there again. We loved going to parks—he didn’t even need a leash because everywhere I went, he just followed. Eastwood and High Street were instantly our favorite places, and it became even merrier when Sushi and Sookie (my cousins’ Shih Tzus) joined the family. He converted my obsessive compulsive mom into a pet lover. He became my dad’s companion whenever he took walks. Whenever my brother was stressed out with school, he’d put Booboo on his lap and continue studying.

I think it’s safe to say that Booboo really changed all our lives.
This was Booboo’s first birthday at home. It was a cake for us humans though. Not something that I wanted to feed him at all.
His second birthday, we weren’t able to get him a cake but we still celebrated anyway. And just a couple of weeks after his second birthday, a friend introduced me to Whole Pet Kitchen.
Booboo’s 3rd Birthday: A Doggie Cake from Whole Pet Kitchen
Whole Pet Kitchen Pet Deli and Bark-ery by Giannina Gonzales is the Philippines’ first Pet Delicatessen and Pet Bakery, which gives pets a good variety of gourmet food and treats. All their products—from the adorable cakes to the super cute cupcakes, are made with human-grade ingredients, have no harmful preservatives, include pet-health enhancing ingredients, are homemade and handmade with love, and are vet-tested and approved. The recipes are all well-researched to ensure that they really are safe (and yummy!) for pets.
The minute I read about Whole Pet Kitchen last year, I promised myself and Booboo that I would get him a cake he would be able to eat for his next birthday.
Now that he just turned three years old, I decided to throw him a small doggie party and was lucky to have been treated to this really cute white and purple delicacy—made with a liver base and cream cheese for frosting. I picked it up at Cafe Ysabel along P. Guevarra Street in San Juan. (Make sure you place your orders three to four days before pickup, so it gives Giannina enough time to prepare and perfect your dog’s treats.)

But we were able to do it!
Booboo and his girlfriend, Sushi
I’m so happy with how Booboo’s little party turned out! Especially because all five of our dogs loved his cake! Motchi, the hungriest and fattest of the bunch, couldn’t get enough of it. Even Chewey, our guard dog Chihuahua who’s very picky with food, had three servings.
Such a handsome dog!
Happy Sushi
Poli, Booboo’s new friend! He ate five servings of the cake!
The next time you’re looking to treat your pet to something special, get him a doggie cake from Whole Pet Kitchen! Or better yet, visit their website or Facebook page so you’ll know what else they can bake aside from cakes and cupcakes. I can’t wait to order some treats for Booboo again soon!
