BLK Cosmetics Review and Makeup Tutorial

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while now, but because time isn’t always on my side nowadays, it took me longer to shoot the products and film a quick makeup tutorial.

But here it is now! And I’m sure most of you have already heard about BLK Cosmetics—a beauty brand that was spearheaded by Anne Curtis and her partner, Jacque Yuengtian-Gutierrez.

Just like what its tagline, Uncomplicated Beauty, suggests, BLK Cosmetics is a line of simple and straightforward makeup products that isn’t intimidating at all. So far, it comes with the Brow Sculpting Pencil Duo, Long-Lasting Liquid Eyeliner, Contour, Blush & Highlight Palette, All-Day Matte Powder Foundation, All-Day Intense Matte Lipstick, Velvet Lip Cream, and Long-Lasting Liquid Matte Lipstick.

Given the roster of products, it aims to really make things easier for everyone—especially for beauty beginners. The price points are incredibly affordable, with everything under Php 500. Quality makeup doesn’t need to break your wallet, and I think BLK Cosmetics found the sweet spot between giving consumers well-formulated products packaged attractively at friendly prices.

One thing I also really like about the brand is their philosophy of being cruelty-free. They stand against animal testing, which means even Booboo approves of BLK!

So far, out of all the products I’ve tried, my favorite is actually the Brow Sculpting Pencil Duo in Taupe. The texture is waxy and glides easily on my brows, plus a little goes a long way and I didn’t have to keep building the product as compared to other brow products I’ve tried that’s priced at Php 249. The angled pencil makes it easier to create an arch, and the formula kept my brow hair in place all day, and lasted all night, even after attending a children’s birthday party.

As for the lipstick? I’m a fan of their names! Chic, Elegant, Classy, Simple, Sophisticated—these are actually all my favorite shades and it’s pretty incidental that they’re all sort of synonymous.
