Beauty Lab Whitening: Red Light Collagen Therapy with Suaviss
A couple of weeks ago, I was invited to try one of the newest technologies in skincare—Red Light Collagen Therapy by Suaviss of Beauty Lab Whitening. As someone who’s obsessed with getting clearer, smoother, and younger-looking skin, and who has tried laser treatments like Revlite, I was so game to cover it and be able to see the results.
I did a total of three sessions with them—enough to notice that my skin did improve and that the scars I had from my recent rash breakout (which I ranted about once or twice on Instagram) lightened. It was such a relief to see!
It’s a pretty straightforward treatment that combines several steps, including exfoliating and getting a light massage, being rubbed all over with special creams, and staying in a futuristic-looking machine for a maximum of 15 minutes to stimulate collagen (among many other positive things it can do) and improve the texture, elasticity, and overall health of the skin.
Basically, when you get to the place, you’ll be asked to change to a comfy white robe, slippers, and disposable underwear. The whole procedure takes about an hour and thirty minutes, where you get to relax and rest your eyes because their super friendly and accommodating staff will pamper you and take care of everything. Expect to be a little conscious when the exfoliating step begins, but if you’re used to getting body scrubs at spas, it shouldn’t be a problem. Being a little on the conservative side, it was quite a unique experience for me. Though it was very easy for me to feel comfortable with Ate Mylene, because she had such a light and comical personality that made me feel at ease.
I was surprised that one thing they also do at Beauty Lab Whitening is to prick or pop any existing pimples you may have on your face. I didn’t really have a problem with it, because I felt like Ate Mylene was well-equipped to be doing what she was doing—but if you’re not comfortable with getting your pimples popped or pricked, just let them know. On one occasion, she also applied an ointment that would speed up the drying process of the pimple I had that day.
After being cleansed, exfoliated, and rubbed with special creams (this is for both the face and body), I was asked to stay inside the Red Light Collagen Therapy machine for 15 minutes! It felt like a friendlier version of a sauna, because it wasn’t too hot—though you’ll be asked to wear goggles to protect your eyes from the red light. If you’re claustrophobic or if you get bored easily, stay calm and don’t panic. Their machines have speakers where you can plug in your phone and listen to your music. I was so amazed when I used it that I didn’t even notice the 15 minutes were up!
Once the 15 minutes were up, Ate Mylene just applied another type of cream as the last step. After only one session, I did notice that my skin and scars from my rashes looked lighter. The creams applied may leave a slight sticky or heavy feeling, but it’s not so bad! In fact, you’d want for it to stay for as long as it can just so it can be fully absorbed by the body. I’m a little sad that my three sessions are over, but I am honestly so thrilled that my skin looks so much better especially after a horrendous rash breakout. Even the scars that were left on my underarms are nearly gone, which is convincing me to get another few sessions just to get rid of it completely! One session is priced at around Php 5,000 though you can avail of special packages that are super discounted.
