Backyard Coffee Philippines: There’s No Place Like Home
Backyard Coffee Philippines: There’s No Place Like Home
Sometimes, it gets a little tiring seeing the same coffee shops over and over again. Though we’re surrounded by them and in a way, we owe it to them for helping us stay awake and alert, isn’t it nice to have a coffee shop where you can simply chill with friends and not have to worry about stuff to do for school or work?
While I do have my go-to coffee shops (and have been accustomed to their food and drinks), there’s nothing more exciting than trying something new and hoping to find a sense of comfort in that place.
I guess that’s exactly how I felt when the Cupcake and I recently visited Backyard Coffee, a new coffee shop along P. Guevarra Street. Being a resident of San Juan City for more than ten years prior to moving out a couple of years ago, perhaps it’s not too surprising that the likes of Greenhills and Wilson areas have a special place in my heart.
Backyard Coffee gives off a familiar homey feel, offering a chic and straightforward space in the heart of Wilson where friends and residents nearby can easily kill time while sipping a cup of coffee and reading a good book. It’s also located right beside the new Beyond Yoga branch, where I would sometimes attend classes.
Their simple menu boasts dishes that certainly make you feel at home, starting with the Salpicao-silog which I actually enjoyed eating for merienda.
Owned by three good friends, Adrian Ong, Lois Chua, and Andrew Sy, who all have the same love for coffee, Backyard Coffee was once a shared dream they eventually turned into a reality.
L-R: Lois, Adrian, and Andrew
With this bond exemplified in the ambiance of their shop and in the coffee they serve, Backyard Coffee is really the kind of place you’d visit over and over—just because it feels like home.
