A Review on my NYX Cosmetics Beauty Loot
Don’t you hate it when you’re on work mode and you’re eager to finish everything you need to do for the day, then the Internet decides to be uncooperative? That’s what happened right before I wrote this review! Ugh.
Anyway, I’ve been meaning to talk about this loot I got from NYX Cosmetics, which includes their Blemish Control Blotting Paper, Beauty Balm Cream, Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator, Butter Lipsticks in Big Cherry and Razzle Fiesta, and Butter Gloss in Eclair.
Given the wide variety, I’ll talk about each one real quick. Let me start with the Blemish Control Blotting Paper. To be honest, I’m not a fan of using powder blotters. I like using those regular purple ones from Kleenex that just removes oil and keeps me shine-free for hours. The reason is because I’m scared the powder will clog my pores and cause my face to break out. NYX’s Blemish Control Blotting Paper contains talc, which made me hesitate a little, but what stood out for me is the salyclic acid, an ingredient that prevents acne. (Even my Avene Cleanance Lotion Toner contains salyclic acid!) Because of this, I’m not as afraid to try it anymore. Let’s see how this one will keep my oily face at bay. I’ve got a good feeling about it!
Since I started investing heavily on my skin, I haven’t really been using a lot of bases because I firmly believe that if you have good skin, you no longer need it! NYX’s Beauty Balm claims to be perfection in a tube because it brightens, smoothens and moisturizes. I tried swatching it to see if the color fits my complexion, and what I noticed is that even without squeezing out the product, it kept coming out. It was a little hard to control how much I wanted to apply. However, upon swatching, I like that the coverage felt very lightweight and it covers up little imperfections. The shade, BBCR02 Natural, complements yellow-toned skin tones like mine.
Up next is the Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator and though I must admit that I’m not a big fan of highlighting (I guess most women with oily skin feel the same way), this product is super intriguing! I’ve lined this up on my next #FOTD to create, just to see the effect if I apply it on my cheek bones and cupid’s bow.
Last are the lippies: Butter Lipstick in Big Cherry and Razzle Fiesta, and Butter Gloss in Eclair. The Butter Lipsticks are demi-matte and have a sort of sheer finish. At first glance, I thought that Big Cherry would be a bright, ripe red but it was more cool-toned and very wearable on a normal day. The Razzle Fiesta is a more vibrant pink, and though it’s not a shade I would wear to the office, I think the color is really pretty to work with. My favorite of the three lippies is the Butter Gloss in Eclair, which I actually wore to a friend’s wedding a few weeks ago. Since the matte lipstick trend started, I can’t remember the last time I wore lip gloss (probably in college), but this lippie made me wear it again—and it’s gorgeous.

So those are my first impressions of my NYX Cosmetics beauty loot! My favorites or must-try products would have to be the Blemish Control Blotting Paper, Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator, and Butter Gloss in Eclair. What about you guys? What do you think?
