A Review on Cafe 205 Eatery and Cakery in Katipunan
Just a quick disclaimer: this article is long overdue. I ate here more than a month ago with the Cupcake and KChan.
Cafe 205 Eatery and Cakery is located along the stretch of Katipunan, nearing the Santolan intersection. I noticed it immediately because of its simple white-and-black setting, situated inside a contemporary, well-lit building. I thought it would be a perfect place for KChan and I to catch up, like we always do, while food tripping or checking out the newest restaurant in the city.
As expected, the prices were student-friendly since it’s pretty near schools. However, their servings were small. Aside from sharing the Thick Chocolate a la Barcelona with Freshly Piped Churros (Php 115), which can pass as onion rings due to their shape, we ordered three different dishes:
205 Spinach Ricotta Ravioli (Php 205)
Baby Back Ribs with 205 Barbecue Sauce (Php 175)
Beef Casserole with Creamed Rice and Cheese Gratin (Php 175)
Of the three dishes, I really enjoyed KChan’s order which was the Beef Casserole with Creamed Rice and Cheese Gratin. The flavor was excellent, and was complemented well by the creamy rice. The presentation made it look even more appetizing. Cupcake’s Baby Back Ribs, on the other hand, was a little too dry, and I think the presentation needs more work since the plate looked bare. I wasn’t very happy with my Spinach Ricotta Ravioli either, because it was a bit salty and had too much garlic (I’m not a huge fan of garlic) that it clouded the spinach taste I was expecting.
We were able to try a couple of their cakes for dessert: Lemon Torte and Tiramisu. Nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed the Tiramisu anyway.
Despite my disappointment with two dishes, I wouldn’t mind coming back here again—only to indulge in the Beef Casserole. What about you guys? What do you like about Cafe 205 Eatery and Cakery in Katipunan?
