A Review On Afters Espresso and Desserts: Dessert Place in Tomas Morato
Even though I moved to Quezon City a couple of years ago, it’s a little ironic that I still barely know the place—save for the Katipunan and Maginhawa areas. I’m also a little familiar with the Tomas Morato area, where I took up bikram yoga in Bikram Yoga Manila and anti-gravity yoga in Beyond Yoga.
Last week, after the Cupcake and I worked on a sideline project for my Ninong, we were both craving for something sweet—which is why I took to browsing through Zomato for a nearby dessert place in Tomas Morato, Maginhawa, or Katipunan. We ended up discovering Afters Espresso and Desserts in Lansbergh Place along Tomas Morato.
It was a little traffic in the area, and we also had a hard time looking for parking because everywhere was full. Fortunately, one of the cars parked in the bank in front of Afters Espresso and Desserts left just as we went around the area again.
We only ordered three things: Chocolate Lava Cake (Php 120)—something I’ve been ordering a lot recently because I’m on a mission to look for the best lava cake in Metro Manila, Brewed Coffee, and Salted Caramel Latte for Php 139.
Although it was good, I was quite disappointed that their lava cake didn’t come with vanilla ice cream which I thought was a staple in every lava cake serving. In my opinion, the vanilla ice cream always balances out the sweetness and richness of the chocolate so that you don’t feel too sated or get sick of it right away.
What I liked was the Salted Caramel Latte, which had just the right amount of saltiness at first, then sweetness in the end.
Being a legit coffee lover who drinks his coffee black and is picky with coffee, Cupcake enjoyed their brewed coffee.
Aside from cakes and coffee, they also have several gelato flavors. I’m really curious as to how their other desserts taste—like the creme brulee and panacotta. Those are two things I’m going to order next for sure.
