A Quick Review on Maybelline’s Creamy Mattes by Color Sensational
If you guys can recall, I recently went to Maybelline‘s #MakeItHappen event last February, where I got to do an exclusive interview with Georgina Wilson!
I think three main reasons this lipstick is such a hit are 1. they finish matte (and are surprisingly long-lasting), 2. the shades are actually dupes of popular shades from more high-end brands, and 3. they’re super affordable! In fact, you can get any of the ten shades for only Php 299 each.
My favorite shade, which I heard gets sold out pretty fast, is the Touch of Spice, which both Georgina and I are wearing in the photo below:
The first time I wore Touch of Spice, I fell in love—it’s the right kind of rosy (not too reddish pink yet not too brown either) that suits any complexion. In fact, it’s a great dupe for MAC’s Twig. I think the main difference between the two is the finish—MAC’s is more satin while Maybelline (it’s in the name after all) has a creamy matte finish. Touch of Spice is incredibly pigmented, too! Just a few swipes needed to cover your entire lips.
One trick that I do though with all matte lipsticks, especially because I have extremely dry lips, is that I wear a good lip balm and let my lips absorb it, before I apply the lipstick. This prevents my lips from looking weird or cracked when the matte lipstick sets. Touch of Spice is surprisingly long-lasting (I wore it on two occasions where I applied it after lunch and it stayed on until after dinner), but because my lips get dry really fast, it flaked a bit. What’s impressive though is the staying power, so if you need an affordable lipstick that’s great for everyday wear, I highly recommend Touch of Spice! On the other hand, Divine Wine and Vibrant Violet are bold colors perfect for evening wear!

I love how Touch of Spice looks different (but as gorgeous) on you and Georgina. It’s my fave as well! I was lucky it was in stock when I checked out their P199 Creamy Mattes sale. Thanks for the tips, the same happened to me when I wore mine for a day. I have dry lips too.
